Gabriel Araujo is global chief creative officer at Ogilvy Social Lab. A passionate hands-on creative, with an award-winning career and a firm belief in the power of creativity. 4 years ago, Gabriel launched the Unlockers collective, an initiative to bring ad people together to create ideas for good, for different causes. The Symphony of Violence was an insight Gabriel had 3 years ago, but that took almost a year to be done given that the collective had to bring it to life with their own resources. In the end it all worked out and they even got the support of Guns n Roses drummer Matt Sorum.

The Symphony of Violence - The sound experience

The Symphony of Violence is a project to raise awareness about violence in some of the poorest cities in Brazil. Every 10 minutes, a person is murdered in Brazil. The story of a series of victims was recreated in a shooting stand, where posters representing the victims were shot with the same amount and caliber of shots the victim was murdered with. A soundtrack was made, to reflect tension and fear: what we should feel when hearing this news; feelings that have become routine for the Brazilian people.

This project is still running. The initial intention was to creative awareness, but now they are working on ways to raise money for the families of the victims. More to come soon, stay tuned on The Symphony of Violence page.
